TWO POLISH PROJECTS TO BE PITCHED IN CANNES
Birdie by Aneta Ptak and Frontline by Alisa Kovalenko will be featured in the East Doc Platform Showcase pitch event held during the Cannes Film Festival.
Every year, as part of its industry section, the Cannes Film Festival collaborates with institutions and documentary events to organise pitchings for creators whose projects are in the final stages of post-production.
Project presentations in the form of 10-minute fragments of raw footage are aimed at decision-makers, festival representatives, or sales agents who are looking for new titles.
Two Polish titles will be presented at the East Doc Platform pitching:
Birdie by Aneta Ptak is a journey into oneself, an exploration of a woman's emancipation through the medium of a camera. An unexpected series of events throws Aneta off guard and takes away the two most important men in her life – her father and her husband – in one fell swoop. The unwanted breakup of her marriage, triggered by the unforeseen death of her father, forces her to seek solace in the filming process.
The battle rages on, but everything seems so calm and fragile until a missile shatters everything. A first-hand look at the reality of the Ukrainian frontline by a director and mother, who became a soldier. The Polish-Danish Frontline by Alisa Kovalenko portrays a completely different and hitherto unnoticed side of the war through the lens of a camera – from the perspective of both a soldier and a documentary filmmaker.
