POLISH TITLE: BALCEROWICZ. GRA O WSZYSTKO

A documentary about the economic changes which happened in Poland after 1989, and about Leszek Balcerowicz – the man and the leader. The film explores the braveness of decision making and assuming responsibility for the fate of society in a situation of extreme uncertainty, limited information and international turmoil – all during the biggest political shake-up in modern Polish history. The film shows the price that leaders have to pay for taking responsibility – both politically and personally. The film features Professor Leszek Balcerowicz, Ewa Balcerowicz, Professor Zbigniew Brzeziński, Daniel Fried, Robert Zoellick and international commentators.

is a dir­ector and scriptwriter of doc­u­ment­ary films and report­ages made for the Pol­ish Tele­vi­sion, a gradu­ate of Warsaw School of Eco­nom­ics Depart­ment of For­eign Trade. He began work­ing for TV in 1980 as a res­ult of a com­pet­i­tion for pro­duc­tion man­agers. From 1996 to 2004 he was the chief editor of doc­u­ment­ary films in TVP1.  He was the ori­gin­ator of pro­grammes such as: “Time for doc­u­ment­ary”, “Eyes wide open”, and the author of widely acclaimed films, includ­ing “Parade”, “Dance of the reeds”, and “Mobile cinema of dreams”.

A graduate of Italian studies at the University of Warsaw (1990) and of a oneyear course for journalists and TV producers at the Television Academy (1996). In 1992-94 she was a journalist of ‘Życie Warszawy’, since 1995 she has been working for the Polish Television. A producer of more than 100 reportages, among others, for Ekspres Reporterów and the Małe ojczyzny series as well as documentaries: Tomek W. (2004), Trzeci wiek (2006), Kupujesz to? (2006). A festival award winner, among others, in Chelyabinsk, Canton (Guangzhou) and Poznan.
