INCANTATIO
REPRESENTED BY KFF
Paweł Dudziński, who developed butoh dance by an intuitive ritual method, became a laudable continuator and successor of the tradition of such great butoh masters as Tatsumi Hijikata and Kazuo Ohno. In his artistic search, Dudziński takes from avant-garde art the most valuable means of expression, improving an interpretation of butoh dance with forms of expression previously unknown in this field. ‘Incantatio’ is an encounter with one of the most remarkable performers in the world. It is an extraordinary mystery play in the heart of a wild forest, where the artist reinvents a sacred ritual of the dance of darkness, called ‘ankoku butoh’.
