THE MACEDONIAN

POLISH TITLE: MACEDOŃCZYK

During the Greek Civil War in 1948-1950 about 28 thousand children were deported from the Greek region of Macedonia. Out of this number, 3500 went to Poland, which includes 1750 children of Macedonian origin. The initial plan had been to send them out of the country only for the duration of the conflict but after the war was over the Greek government forbade the children to return home. One of them was Mito Klawczow, who never managed to go back to his native country. His son Petro sets off on a journey in the footsteps of his father’s roots and identity he lost many year ago.
